Canadian Housing & Renewal Association Update

CHRA will hold its next national Congress in St. John’s, NFLD,  May 1-4, 2012. This congress has not been in Atlantic Canada for some time so it is hoped all parts of the Atlantic will be represented to showcase the good things that are happening here in affordable housing. Visit www.chra-achru.ca for details on the Congress.

Two priorities for CHRA include (a) supporting research to assist in the development of strategies for a post-expiry of operating agreements world so the Association will continue to work with CHRA on this important issue and (b) work will also focus on incentives to increase the supply of private rental and the social housing stock in Canada as these are important parts of the housing continuum. We will advise as this work progresses.

Any non-profit housing corporation or association, province or municipality can become a member of CHRA as it is the only national organization that can lobby the Federal government on the issues of homelessness and affordable housing. If you are interested in joining CHRA please visit their web site www.chra-achru.ca or contact our office.
