Below are the results and key takeaways from last week's survey, highlighting trends and perspectives that help inform future learning, collaboration, and sector support.
What has been the biggest challenge for your organization in completing your financial audit?

Overall, the responses suggest that completing a financial audit is not a major challenge for many organizations, with “no major challenges” being the most common response. However, among organizations that did identify difficulties, cost was the most frequently reported concern, indicating that the financial burden of an audit may be a significant barrier for some. Other challenges, including finding an auditor, getting the necessary paperwork together, and understanding audit requirements, were mentioned less often.
What has been working well for your organization during the audit process?

The results highlight a number of factors that are helping organizations move through the audit process more smoothly. Well-organized records were the most commonly reported strength, with 20 selections, suggesting that strong recordkeeping plays an important role in preparing for an audit. A clear understanding of what is required was also identified frequently, with 17 selections, while 13 organizations noted that support from their bookkeeper or accountant has been helpful. Four organizations selected “Other,” pointing to some additional factors that may be supporting a positive audit experience.
What Resources or Supports Would Make the Audit Process Easier for Your Organization?

The responses show that while many organizations are comfortable managing the audit process on their own, there is still interest in practical resources that could make the process easier. A checklist or template was the most commonly requested resource, with 7 selections, followed by help finding an auditor with 4 selections. Training or a workshop was selected 3 times, while 2 organizations indicated that more guidance or clearer instructions would be helpful. At the same time, 16 organizations reported that they are doing okay and do not need additional support right now. Overall, the findings suggest that simple, practical tools could provide useful support for organizations that need additional assistance.
