Overall, how do you feel about the idea of housing organizations merging?

There is a generally positive response to the idea of housing organizations merging. Half of respondents (16) said they were very supportive, with another 3 somewhat supportive. A further 9 respondents were neutral, while only 4 expressed some level of concern. This suggests that, overall, there is a good level of openness to the idea, although some respondents may want more information before forming a firm view.
What do you think is the biggest potential benefit of a merger?

More efficient use of resources was the most commonly identified benefit, selected by 16 respondents. This was followed by stronger organizational capacity, identified by 7 people, and greater financial stability, selected by 5. The results suggest that respondents mainly see a merger as a way of bringing organizations together to make better use of their resources and build greater capacity, rather than primarily as a way to directly improve tenant services or create more housing.

When it comes to the things that matter most, maintaining affordable housing was the clear priority, with 10 respondents selecting it. Maintaining quality tenant services and clear communication throughout the process were each identified by 6 respondents, while 5 highlighted the importance of protecting local community connections. This points to a strong focus on ensuring that a merger does not come at the expense of affordability, service quality or local relationships.
